Mainetti China
The design of this landmark manufacturing plant disproves the notion that factories are simply ˇ§big boxes,ˇ¨ economical to build but without visual interest. This factory complex was also economically constructed with a prefabricated metal building system, but its system was creatively adapted and artfully composed by the architect to design a purpose-built manufacturing facility with a highly distinctive corporate identity. This 350,000 sq.ft. industrial development now represents a new flagship production facility in China for the European based Mainetti Group, and is the worldˇ¦s largest garment hanger manufacturing plant, assembling over 700 million hangers each year. Both the factory and dormitories were designed to maximize natural light, ventilation and comfort for 800 factory workers and management staff. The factory features passive solar shading and high-volume, skylighted production areas which are bright and airy working environments. All dorm rooms have balconies overlooking an outdoor playing field in a campus-like setting. Communal facilities include a multi-purpose hall, cafeteria, library, clinic, shops and internet cafe.
